We had chinese take-out courtesy of Steve & Jodi at Jess' one night. It was fun to see the little kiddos and for them to munch on Kate. Madi & Halli kept saying "she is so tall, she is bigger than Tanner, she sure is growing up!" It was funny..and she is nearly bigger than Tanner. He is just a little guy!

Biker Babe...
We spent a VERY long weekend buying, hauling, delivering potatoes for the scout fundraiser. They are delicious but I can't help but hate them. It is so discouraging that none of the parents nor the boys care about the fundraiser, doing fun activities or even helping. So this year as with every year it is a "Raymond, Nicole and Dani" do a fundraiser for the scouts. It's awesome. After a long day in the car and visiting lots of family we ended up at my dad's where Kate LOVED playing on his motorcycle. She just kept patting it and smiling. She may grow up to be a biker babe!

Domestic Me...
Raymond did a beautiful job updating a stair way for Steve's in laws. He darkened the wood and changed the wood balisters to cast iron ones. Steve wanted it done as a surprise for them while they were all at Disnyland which meant we had a deadline and of course were there til 2 am. But he finished it and it looks awesome. Kate got tucked in on the floor and slept great while I went outside to pick raspberries. At 1 am. In shorts and flip flops as the berries froze. It was 38 degrees. Did you know raspberry bushes have thorns? Yeah, me neither. It took me nearly an hour and almost a couple toes but I picked LOTS of raspberries and with some encouragement from my grandma and mom I made jam and it is DELICIOUS! My mom also got me TONS of strawberries for a great price and I was able to chop and freeze lots and I made homemade syrup. I have had a LOT of waffles since then because the syrup is just that good! I felt so proud of myself and Kate was great while I was doing it all.

Play Time...
I was able to help some friends out by babysitting their sweet little gals one day...we had a blast...but I am not ready for 3 kids! It didn't help that the babies are only 3 months apart and both are teething and if one cried the other cried and they both had to be held...I no longer want twins. I don't know how those mama's do it! We had fun making cookies, played lots of princess pretend with necklaces and a princess house (under the piano which was all blocked in) and watched Avatar...Mackenley knows how to pick out awesome movies! I was exhausted but it was a fun day! Kate loved having others around to watch and entertain her!

She's A Moving!
My baby can officially crawl...actually it's an army crawl...she cries hysterically if I try to put her on her hands and knees...and she will only do it with the best of bribes...such as cheetos, her binky, lovie or a ball....she is such a content baby that she still doesn't really care to crawl much but she is getting better....
Kate has always been the BEST medicine taker...she has had her first ear infection...right before flying to CA of course...so she got more practice with taking medicine...she sucks on the syringe and gulps it down...it is so cute to watch...love this gal...

Katelyn...
Oh pretty girl, you make my every day worth while. I love watching you learn, grow and play. Thanks for letting me be your mom.

California 2013!
We were able to spend a weekend in California with some of our favorite people. We had a great weekend and although it wasn't long enough, we were grateful for the chance to get away and visit them!
This was Katelyn's first time flying so we were very excited (more than her!)!! We were also nervous because on Tuesday I took her to the doctor and found out she had a slight left ear infection, we were so scared that the flight would be painful for her. She had 2 days of antibiotics in her system and routine doses of Tylenol and Ibuprofen (and lots of prayers) which helped her have a great flight.
The night before we were excited/trying to get ready to we didn't get to bed til 12:30 which wouldn't have been terrible except that we needed to be up at 2:30 (apparently when I booked our flights I didn't realize just how early I booked it for!). We set both of our alarms and fell asleep, Kate woke up crying shortly after we went to sleep so I brought her into our room so she would sleep better sitting up a little. What seemed like minutes later she started crying again, I got her calmed down and looked at the clock...it was 3:46 am!! We were supposed to leave for the airport at 3 am to allow sufficient time for check in, TSA, etc. We raced out of our house, Kate was an absolute angel and was watching in awe as we ran about getting us out the door in record time! Haha!
The heavens aligned and we made it to the airport, through security and to our gate with 10 minutes to spare! We were so HAPPY we didn't miss our flight! Kate was wide awake and excited to be watching people/making friends at the airport and on the plane. Once we started taxing she fell asleep in Ray's arms before take off and slept throughout the entire flight! She woke up just after landing! We were so glad she was comfortable and pain free!
Maturo's picked us up from the airport and we headed to breakfast at Flappy Jack's. I felt like we ate the whole weekend, Roxanna was so good to us..and our bellies! On Thursday we just hung out at their house, watched Pawn Stars, sat by the pool, took a long nap, had homemade meatball subs for lunch and we BBQ'd steak/corn/potatoes for dinner. Katelyn loves their puppies and was in heaven watching them all weekend.
On Friday we woke up to fresh monkey bread, bacon, biscuits and eggs for breakfast! We decided to spend the day at the LA county fair, which some may think is weird but we thought it was INCREDIBLE! The fair was ginormous, had tons of exhibits/booths/entertainment, lots of delicious food and was perfect weather! There was a parade that came through the fair that was a "battle of the bands" type of deal with lots of music to listen to.
Roxanna and I tried deep friend snickers which were actually pretty good! We played a couple games. Roxanna won Katelyn a minion but since she was terrified of it we traded it for a Hello Kitty doll which she likes much better! Ray and Kate went on the Merry Go Round.
I ate (or attempted to eat) a giant turkey leg that was the size of my head. I was unsuccessful and despite my best effort would not be a good candidate for competitive eating (even though most days I can eat more than 5 grown men!). Katelyn loved watching everything all around us!
Ray rode the bull! I have begged him to do it for years and he finally did it! It was so fun to watch, Kate wasn't sure what was going on. He did great although he complained of being sore the next day!
The fair had incredible entertainment. There was a "Circus" area where we watched Cirque de Soleil performers, a humorous clown act"Mango & Dango", fire jugglers and got to see a weird array of things. Kate couldn't take her eyes off of Dango--she may need therapy although she never cried...just stared.
By far our favorite thing was the giant steer...far better than the giant horse and alligator. It was 6'6" to it's back. We were seriously fascinated by it! The funniest thing was Mike went in to see it, whistled for it, it went right over to him and let him scratch his ear. The guy working the booth was a bit scared he would die but the steer was super friendly!
There were so many buildings with booths/displays to look at. Kate tried to wrestle a mardi gras mask off of me! It is so funny to watch her reaction to different things around us! The fair was gorgeous with lights and fountains all around.
One of the buildings was dedicated to Disney Pixar and animations. It showed how things were made, had model displays from several movies with activities you could complete. It was really neat to see everything. Below is one of the most gorgeous carousels I have ever seen, it was breathtaking!
Saturday morning we had breakfast burritos and "Donut Man" donuts..which are famous via the Food Network. We saw a line around the corner at 10pm! Mike went at 6 am and waited in line so we could try them! They were delicious! Then we headed to Redondo Beach and Pier. We walked around the pier, had an ice cream then took Kate to play in the ocean for her first time.
She didn't like the waves, the water was pretty cold and intimidating. She kept grabbing at us to pick her up so she just dipped her toes a couple times. She kept watching the waves no matter what way we turned her, she wasn't about to let them escape her sight! She did however love the beach, she played in the sand and loved digging in it. She had sand everywhere!
Afterwards we headed to Downtown Disney and walked around for a bit.The Lego displays were pretty awesome but everything else was crazy expensive...we are way to cheap for Disneyland! I loved watching them make their character caramel apples although I was not willing to spend $10 on them! Nothing looked good for lunch so we ate at Coco's just outside of the Disneyland area. Kate was pretty happy we gave her a giant wedge of bread to gum on, she was in heaven.
Saturday night we had dinner at the house, we watched '17 Miracles' which was incredible and snacked on caramel apples from the fair. On Sunday morning we went to church with Maturo's, Ray loved seeing several people he remembers from the mission. This was by far his favorite ward on his mission, he speaks of the families and experiences he had there often. Even though it has been 10 years they all remembered and loved him as well.
Their ward is incredible, the primary program they put on as well as the lessons were amazing. The time and dedication they gave was amazing to witness. I would love to live outside of Utah so that Kate would get to experience the church elsewhere.
After church we had lunch at Petrillo's Pizza, which was a favorite from Ray's mission. The Maturo's took us to the airport, our first time going through Long Beach. It was such a cute little airport! Kate had another great flight home, she was awake for take off and was very unsure about it but just snuggled into me and went to sleep. She woke up shortly before landing!
The Maturo's were so good to us. We ate more than anyone should eat in a week and were completely spoiled. Raymond first met this couple on his mission, taught them, baptized them, returned after his mission for their sealing and they have been "adopted" members of our family ever since. They are Kate's "grandparents"! They credit Ray for being such a great influence in their lives but truly they have made such a difference in our lives. They are the most loving, caring and optimistic people I have met. They always make people around them feel uplifted and loved. They are such amazing people and we are so grateful to call them family!

9 Months!
You are a growing girl! Mom & Grandma took you to the doctor and you did great! You are tall/skinny/big brained!! You haven't been feeling the best lately and turns out you have a slight left ear infection, we got you started on an antibiotic and hopefully you will be feeling great soon! Even when you are sick, you are still the sweetest girl and barely even cry!

First 5K!
Today we did something amazingly un-characteristic of us. We woke up early and went running (ok, seriously we walked--turns out I suck at running!)! I signed us up for a 5K to support Logan's school field trip, I was so excited for it and was so excited Ray decided he could join me! It was a huge boost for me to be able to do it (we won't even mention the HORRID time, which we weren't in a rush/kept steady conversation the whole time and pushed/entertained Kate). I was so proud of us for doing it! We had fun, enjoyed the company, I won a pair of sunglasses from the raffle and Kate loved being with Ashley & Brenda! Afterwards, we went to breakfast with the Moye's family which is always enjoyable!
After Ray went to Morgan to work for awhile we headed to Salt Lake to the state fair with my mom and dad. Kate LOVED looking at everything, the food was pretty good and as always there was weird fun stuff to look at. Kate loved the bubble machine that was spraying everywhere. Then we went to my grandparents house to visit for a moment and to review color samples for grandpa's Idaho house.
On Sunday we returned to Salt Lake for Grandpa Winn to be ordained a Stake Patriarch. It was so neat to be a part of the experience. The spirit was so strong in the room as the Stake President spoke to us and ordained him. I look up to my grandpa and grandma so much and am forever grateful for their examples to me. Kate had fun pretending to drive in the front seat as we waited in the parking lot at the church!

Play Time...
We had some awesome play time with Briele over the last couple days. She and Kate LOVE each other and are "the best friends ever" per Briele! Kate watches her like crazy and hates if she can't see her. We had fun playing games, having a picnic in the park and "holding" Kate--who is nearly the size of Briele! Kate is getting better and better at drinking from a sippy cup and loves whenever we let her just play with them! Love these cute girls!

Lexi....
We had the chance to head North to watch Lexi play soccer. She is so laissez-fair about the whole event. She kept waving and clapping for Kate from the middle of the soccer field. She did however get quite a few good kicks in the middle of her focus issues. We then headed to the Bowling Alley (which was incredible) and got to enjoy some more fun time with Lexi. Kate loves all of her cousins and just cheers, laughs and claps whenever they are near by so it was fun for her to play with Lexi. Kate would also only eat mac and cheese from Lexi not me tonight!

Daddy's Helper...
Kate and I like to pretend we are super helpful but usually we are not. Sometimes we tag along to construction sites with Ray merely as moral support and as a way to spend time with him. Pathetic we know, but we love Ray and are willing to do whatever is needed to see him!
We spent Sunday afternoon up in Morgan, Kate loved sitting in the drawers. She is such a friendly girl, at church today she was such a distraction because a cluster of people around us couldn't stop playing with her. Charlotte and Kate enjoyed lots of vivid conversation during sacrament as well which had everyone distracted! I love how social and loving she is!

Again!!
Yes, twice in one week I went walking (thanks to Jess!) and completed another 2.88 miles! I am so excited, I definitely want to keep this up! I feel so good afterwards even though I am a sweaty mess! We had another great day playing at the park, eating lunch, Kate holding her spoon for dear life even in her sleep and love seeing the trees start to change to fall! My dad and the Heath family came over for dinner and we had a great time playing and hanging out! Kate absolutely hates to have the star rings on the stacker thing like your supposed to do with them, the second you put them on there she will stop whatever she is doing and immediately rip them off. It's funny, perhaps I have passed on some of my OCD tendencies and I am starting to believe Ray has passed on some of his picky eater tendencies...super combination...poor baby! Haha!

Katelyn...
I can't believe how beautiful my baby is. She is so happy and is always making the cutest expressions. I love how curious and content she is. She loves to just watch everything going on around her. She is such a funny girl. She is so content that I may have started bribing her with infant cheeots (which she LOVES)! She is figuring out how to go from her bum to her belly to stretch and get them but she has no desire to crawl. Most often if I put her on her hands and knees to imitate crawling she cries. Oh well, she can stay immobile for a bit longer!!

Go Me!
So the craziest thing happened and what might be even crazier is how proud of myself I am! Jess asked if we wanted to join them for a walk, so of course we did! 2.88 miles later I survived! Yes, I walked almost 3 miles and it felt great! Truth be told that is the most I have exercised in a LONG time! To celebrate we went to get ice cream, naturally! Kate and Briele had a great time on the walk and enjoyed stopping to play at the park. Kate LOVES spoons and is usually toting one around. She loves to bang it against other items of hers.
Briele pushed Kate around the entire grocery store in this little cart. It was pretty cute and Kate loved it!
Kate is getting easier to feed...if she wants to. Other nights I am begging her to eat and this particular night the only way she would eat was to "drink" it out of the bowl. It made a huge mess but oh well, she ate! Afterwards she was so messy I decided to just bathe her right in the kitchen sink. She LOVED playing with the soap pump and the faucet and even figured out how to turn the water on! Nearly an hour later she was finally willing to get out and her poor body was all wrinkled up! Haha!

Sunday...
Kate is such a happy girl. People are just drawn to her wherever we go! In sacrament today her and Charolette were sitting next to each other and were just "talking" away like they knew exactly what they were each saying. It was not that disruptive of the meeting except for the 10+ people around us who kept "ooo-ing and awe-ing" and talking to them! It was quite funny how many people around us were intrigued by them!
Tonight we bathed her on the counter in the bucket (because neither of us could bend over thanks to our awesome backs and old-ness) and she decided to show us a new trick! (Yay, I love these tricks that make me realize my baby is growing up and getting harder to contain!)
1. Hi mom!
2. Hey dad, let me show you something.
3. Just a little bit of help to balance...
4. Look mom! I stood up all by myself!
She is learning so much, it just boggles my mind. She can now stand up in the tub! What!! Oh my, life is going to get much much busier at our house with her new talents!
