The day after Christmas we headed up to Morgan and then rode up Line Creek with Steve & Jodi and my dad. It was pretty cold but the ride was gorgeous. We had a blast up riding, Raymond got my new gun sighted in and I was able to shoot it. I sure do like it. Steve and Raymond brought their guns up as well so we all shot for a bit while Madison and Jodi froze in the side by side, Steve built us a fire while Halli & my dad drove around, Raymond and I went for a drive down the icy river and then him and Steve went for a spin in the side by side. Then we went and had dinner at Steve & Jodi's, Steve enjoyed his highly expensive steak while we all enjoyed amazing not so expensive steaks!

Merry Christmas 2011
Christmas was fabulous. Raymond showed me once again how sweet he is. I went to work, he stayed home and cooked and cleaned and cooked some more. Christmas was at our house this year so we had lots to do to prep for the big day! We even cooked our first turkey ever! I have officially molested a turkey...or at least that is what it feels like. Other than putting it in the roaster pan the night before and waking up to the roaster pan being dead so we put the turkey in the oven and it got done way early but it was still really good! I had made my grandmas homemade rolls on Christmas Eve, best ones I have ever made! I ended up making 5 dozen because we took them to Whipple's as well but they were all beautiful! Dinner was delicious and we had a giant table of goodies we had gotten from all over the place and then I bought a bunch of goodies so we could be sure to have all of our childhood favorites so needless to say we had plenty to snack on throughout the day!
I am glad we had the sunroom to gather in and had brought up extra seating because we definitely needed all the space we could get! Raymond hid the pickle before everyone had gotten there so we did a search as a family, it was a pretty good fight between Jess & Cody! The winner got a couple movies!
My mom gave the girls some super cute fairy dress ups and the girls LOVED them! They make some pretty cute fairies! My dad got the girls some artsy type stuff and Madison has been loving designing outfits...after all she is our diva! Briele was just happy to be there and just wanted to walk around!
Jess & Kip and Raymond & I got my dad an underwater spear gun, he was pretty excited. He went in the backyard to try it out and Steve & I couldn't stop laughing because everytime he would shoot it it would miss the box and since it is hooked on a rope kept coming back to hit my dad! Thank goodness it has a blunt tip!
I got the girls lots of makeup and they couldn't help but put makeup all over them, everyone else and then that led into styling my hair! It was only a little bit painful to have all three of them pulling at my hair! Jess had made them the cutest "Build a Fort" kits! My mom gave us some way cool waffle makers, Honeyville pancake mix and some super good syrup and a HUGE bag of peanut M&M's...loved it! My dad gave us a couple gift cards to PF Chang's (can't wait to try it, we have been wanting to forever!), Captain America & Green Lantern on Blue Ray. Cody gave us a Browning candle in a tiny dutch oven (I have always wanted one!) and he renewed our Costco membership!! We definitely got spoiled, had a blast spending time with the family and come the end of the day...I was definitely ready for bed!! Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas 2011
Raymond and I had a wonderful Christmas. We opened presents and searched for the pickle on Christmas Eve since I had to work bright and early on Christmas Day. We love Christmas and anyone who has been to our house during the season knows it. We have decorations everywhere, even in the bathroom. We love to decorate for the season and most of the other holidays get neglected because Christmas just wears us out!
Our 2011 Christmas Picture...
Santa usually hides the pickle but this year we decided to play our own game with finding the pickle. We each took a turn hiding it and timed the other to see who found it the quickest. I won, even though Raymond had a pretty good hiding spot so I got the pickle present, Sherlock Holmes on Blue Ray. We then opened presents and as usual Raymond surprised me! I got a Ruger 22 Rifle (which I love), an awesome giant wind chime (which I have wanted since our honeymoon when we bought cool ones for our parents as thank you's), a tripod for my camera, and my favorite...a mother's necklace. It's not your typical mother's necklace but we aren't the typical parents. He surprised me with a 10K white gold chain and then it has 2 tiny rings that are 10K white gold with the birthstone (based on the due date of each baby) on it. I love it and wear it everyday. Raymond got the remaining things he needed for the sound system in the sunroom and patio (speakers, wires, switches, etc.), a couple concealed gun holsters, 4-wheeler ramps, screw driver set, Modern Warfare 3, and a new browning switch blade knife. We were spoiled. We had a great nights rest and then Ray woke up early with me, baked the breakfast casserole I had prepared the night before, and we had Christmas breakfast with each other then I headed to work:) Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Eve 2011
Christmas eve was wonderful. We enjoy Christmas Eve with the Whipple's each year. We enjoy a baked potato bar. We have lots of goodies. The kids are crazy excited. We always have a production of the Christmas story performed by the nieces and nephews. This year it was even produced by Sarah, age 9, who was horrified that the adults hadn't put it together. She did fantastic. The boys were really worried that we didn't have gold, frankincense and myrrh. Therefore we had cheetos, ranch dip and broccoli. Yes, our toddler Jesus is eating the gold :)
The kids do a random gift exchange with the left & right story. The adults all bring a gift and do a white elephant exchange. We played my families version this year of being able to steal twice, it was super fun and the game lasted forever because everyone just kept stealing everything. Grandma & Grandpa gave all the kids their Christmas pajamas. Every year we give everyone a Christmas book, this year we gave them "The Candle in the Window". Bear & Sheralee surprised everyone with the awesome gift of pictures. Bear is the family photographer and has thousands upon thousands upon thousands of pictures. They spent so much of their time compiling disks for everyone with every picture he has of each family or person and then all of the family pictures we have done. For us this included all of our wedding pictures and clips from our engagement party, wedding dinner, wedding, reception, bridals...everything!! I love it, best gift ever! They also included a very touching story with it, really they did awesome. Rodger and Camille surprised everyone with an awesome picture. The Whipple's have had a rough year with all sorts of trauma and stress and struggles so they gave everyone a picture that says "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...It's about learning to dance in the rain." They had Bear place it on pictures they had picked out and then framed them. I love the one we got...it is a Lego girl and boy dancing in the rain! It is awesome!

Day Before the Night Before Christmas 2011
We had the Stapel family annual Day Before Night Before Christmas Party as usual. I love this party. All of my mom's brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and my grandma are all there. We have delicious food (this year was breakfast foods, the casserole I made with great direction from Jessica was GREAT!), talk and laugh lots, have an always entertaining white elephant exchange (this year Jess did "Shave with me Barbie", my mom did a redbox which in fact was only a red box and I did an eye-pad (it was a feminine pad with a wiggly eye glued to it!))!
Super exciting thing was Briele started walking multiple steps at a time!! She was so excited but I think the rest of us were more excited as we kept making her do it over and over again! She has refused to even try to walk for the longest time so this was a BIG move for her!
Santa (Raymond) came to visit. Madison is starting to catch on. Our conversation went as follows-- Madi: Where is Raymond? Me: In the bathroom Madi: Why? Me: He doesn't feel good. Madi: What did you feed him? Me: Nothing. Madi: Hmmmm. You sure? Me: Yeah. Madi: Ok.
Then as Steve & Jodi drove home Madison explained to them that it was not the REAL Santa just Santa's helper because 1) He didn't smell like Santa 2) He didn't know the Christmas song the fish was singing 3) His beard was too skinny 4) He all together was too skinny 5) His voice didn't sound right. Yes, she put a lot of thought into it. So Raymond may not be the real Santa but he is a pretty good helper!
We wore cool mustaches, smashed up a pinata, sang Christmas carols and just had a great night!! I love my family!!

Christmas Village
My family all went out for dinner to celebrate to wonderful people and their birthdays, Jessica & Steve. I really am so lucky when it comes to family, I love my family so much! More than just being family they are my best friends, I love being with them and we are always doing something fun! We went to Sonora Grill for some yummy Mexican food and then we headed to downtown Ogden to see the Christmas village. We hadn't been before so it was pretty fun and the girls loved it. I had gotten more awesome glasses that make images (snowman, snowflake, elf and reindeer) when you look at Christmas lights and that was really fun. Only problem was there was no snow...and it was FREEZING! But we still managed to have fun!

Grown Up's Night @ Whipple's
Brenda had the best idea...ever. Imagine a Whipple family gathering...no kids. We love kids, we love our nieces and nephews, we love playing with them, we love seeing them. But...this was the first time the Whipple family has done anything without the kids included...ever! I have never witnessed a gathering of adults only doing adult things when the Whipple's have been involved. It was so fun being able to visit, eat adult food, and watch a movie. Brenda planned and orchestrated the entire event and it was so fun. All but three of the siblings were able to attend. We watched the Forgotten Carols, which was a first for me. Great night! I was surprised how much energy I had since I had worked a graveyard the night before then got up for lunch with one of the most amazing people ever and then headed to Brigham for an awesome night. So glad I was able to be awake (I don't usually do graveyard and really don't like not sleeping)!

| The men set up the movie on the projector and we all enjoyed theater style seating!! |
Speaking of lunch, Raymond and I went to lunch with STACIE SUMMERS! She is exactly who I needed to see! I have been struggling insanely and people mean well but sometimes I would rather talk about anything but how I am feeling. Without Stacie even knowing that all we talked about for the next 4 hours in a Chili's booth was everything under the moon but "how I was feeling". Raymond was embarassed at times because we were laughing so loud but we don't care! We had so much fun! I wish she didn't live in Kansas or I wish I lived in Kansas but I just don't see her often enough! It really doesn't matter how long in between us seeing each other or talking but we pick up right where we left off. Thank you so much for an amazing lunch and the best real deep hearted laugh I have had in a VERY long time! She moved into my neighborhood when we were 7 years old and we have been the best of friends since (well since I gave up my love for Elvis)! Man, I just love this woman!! Thanks for coming to visit!

Merry Christmas!!
I decided to get a little creative for Christmas this year for our neighbor and co-worker gifts and I was pretty pleased with how they turned out.
For my nurses and CNA's I gave them a bag of jolly ranchers that said "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas!"
For several of our younger neighbors we gave them games you put in the DVD player and play it through your remote (Who Want's To Be A Millionaire, Deal or No Deal or Family Feud) and it said "Hope Your Holidays Are Playful & Fun!"
For our older neighbors we gave them a notepad that said "I hope your holidays are Noteworthy!"
And for the gals I work with in the office and other friends/co-workers I made some homemade syrup (thank you so much for helping Jessica!) and for the "from" we put "Mrs. ButterWhipple". Yeah we think we are hilarious!!
I really love being able to give to others and I am really happy with how these turned out. We always want to show our appreciation to all of our friends and neighbors and Christmas is a great time. I was also very proud because we went to our ward Christmas party this year. First time ever!! In the 5+ years since we were married we have never gone, I am so glad we have so many friends in our ward, it really makes participating much more fun! Afterwards we went and hung out with friends and enjoyed our snowless December evening!

Bad Day @ Work
I had a bad day at work. Like really bad. I heard a frantic voice asking for help. Voyaged to the front office to see a small trickle of water coming from the attic to the floor below. I hurried and grabbed a mop bucket placed it under the little drip. Someone ran to turn of the water main. Then all hell broke loose. The attic access door fell open, the light fixtures blew out of the ceiling, the ceiling began crumbling and thousands of gallons of frigid dirty insulation water began pouring into our front office. While I was standing underneath with my pathetic little mop bucket. Within 8 minutes we had over a 1000 square feet with 6-7 inches of water. Yeah. The next few hours were a blur of sirens, police, fire department, evacuation of our patients (we evacuated all patients in 12 minutes and it was a non-emergent evacuation just for patient comfort, go ALPINE!!), lots of water, lots of cleaning, lots of wet paper. I was drenched head to toe within the first 30 seconds of the ordeal and remained sopping wet for the next 4 hours before Raymond could bring me new dry clothes. I think I nearly died of frost bite. And you think you had a bad day at work.
Thankfully I have an amazing husband. I came home to a freshly scrubbed bathtub with steaming hot water (I have never taken a bath at our house because I am scared of our tub even though we do clean it regularly), Christmas music playing softly and candles lighting the bathroom. Yes, he is taken. Thanks dear, you made my day much better.

Briele is 1!!
I know everyone thinks they are pretty lucky when it comes to their nieces and nephews but I am more blessed than I could have ever imagined! I am very proud to be the aunt of Miss Briele Kate! This little gal is one very special little girl. She is the happiest little gal around and even though she had been very sick she was so happy during her party, she loves everyone (especially me, which I love!!), she loves to EAT, she rarely cries (before 3-ish months it was a whole different story!) and she is ALWAYS so excited to see me! Every time I see her she gets a giant smile and stretches her arms out for me, it just melts my heart! When she was a baby I got to be her first babysitter it was in the hospital while Jess showered but her daddy gave me very specific instructions on exactly how to care for her and to call him if she got the least bit upset even though he would only be gone for half an hour. Briele used to require quite the routine of extreme bouncing, running up and down stairs, or any exhausting jostling before she would fall asleep and I was so happy to be one of the few that could get her to sleep. She is so loved by so many people! She has changed her mom & dads entire life and I know they couldn't be any happier that she joined their family. I can't imagine what life would be like without Miss B. I love when I get to hang out with her for the day, snuggling up for naps, playing, getting her to giggle (which is easy because she is so happy) and just watching her grow up! The Winn grand-babies just wouldn't be complete without her, I love all of them more than I could ever explain! They make life so much fun!
One of Miss B's accomplishments is she turned one!! She also has the cutest wave hello/goodbye, she blows kisses, if you cough she will fake cough in return, she is getting quite vocal and will yell and yell to get your attention, she has been going up and down my stairs for months and loves to follow you around the house crawling, and she is such a GOOD EATER! She loves to eat and will open her mouth as wide as it will go to take a bite!!
Her mommy threw an AWESOME first birthday party which was SO CUTE! Miss B was the star of the event but all the decorations were competition!
Miss B did so well opening her presents but was a little overwhelmed that all of the little girls wanted her to open them up much faster than she could!
I had the honor of making her cake and I believe it turned out pretty good! She wasn't huge into digging into but she loved picking off each piece of fondant and looking at it until she set it aside and would pick off another piece! She had lots of people helping her with the cake so she eventually got pretty messy and would copy what others would do so we got pretty messy as well!
Happy Birthday B!! We love you!!

Festival of Trees 2011
My mom and I had the chance to go to the Festival of Trees this year. It was my moms first year and my second. It ceases to amaze me how creative people are. My favorite part...the cakes. Of course. People are so talented. My favorites include the Tangled Tower and the log cabin. It was so fun to be able to get out and enjoy the afternoon. I don't think we even made it through everything they offered because honestly I wasn't much fun and I was still not feeling great but I appreciate my mom taking me with her!

We will prevail...
I have been working on this post for quite awhile now. I can't seem to be able to put my feelings into words. So I will just start with how we found out, what happened after that and then we will work on feelings.
October 23, 2011
We found out we were pregnant. We had our suspicions and the fact that we had been on fertility treatments we knew which date we had to test but in the rush of getting ready to go to Hawaii and finishing things up at work we decided to wait and test while on vacation. I knew if I tested at home and it was positive my ability to get anything done would be shot, my mind would be completely occupied. Sunday morning we got ready in the upstairs bathroom and tested while we were up there. We were so excited. Shocked. Surprised. Relieved. I showed Raymond the positive test and his first words were "Are you shitting me?". Very sentimental huh. We were thrilled. Since we hadn't been to the doctor yet we decided to keep it secret from our family. We spent a week with my entire family in one house and we successfully kept it a secret. It was so hard!
I was feeling incredibly pregnant for the week or so previous and it continued in Hawaii. I got sea sick and nauseated just from looking at the ocean waves rolling. I was tired and hungry ALL the time. It was horrible being in Hawaii wanting to do as much as we possibly could but in reality I could barely keep my eyes open most of the week.
We were so incredibly scared that things wouldn't go well. We knew all too well the reality of a failed pregnancy and the heartbreak that would come with it. Especially if we got our hopes up. Instead of holding onto fear and despair we chose to grasp with all our might onto hope, love and the possibility of a sweet baby joining our family. We spent the week passing sweet smiles, tender squeezes of each others hands, and longing looks. Not one day passed that we weren't secretly sharing our joy with one another. I must have downloaded 5 "Pregnancy Apps" and every night we would whisper about all things baby, pregnancy, what our future plans would be, our list that was a mile long that we would start when we got home. Raymond would kiss my belly and say goodnight to our baby at night. Within moments of confirming we were pregnant our whole world seemed to shift. Things that were important before now took a back burner and our whole life was consumed with the little person growing within me.
Our last night in Hawaii we went to dinner with my grandparents. We figured we could share our secret with them so we showed them one of our pictures in the sand. My grandma didn't get it originally but once grandpa showed it to her again she started crying which then I cried and hugs and congratulations were exchanged. Later that night my grandma shared with me that her fasts for the last couple months have been for me and Raymond in hopes that we would be able to have children. It was an incredibly loving moment I was happy to share with her.
We went to the temple the morning we left Hawaii. Raymond and I both had a strong impression during the session and while we sat in the Celestial room that everything would be okay. We still were nervous because our version of okay and God's version of okay are sometimes very different.
We took a couple pictures on the beach that we were hoping to use to announce our amazing news to our families. Unfortunately they won't be necessary.
We even bought some keepsakes from our trip for our sweet baby. Our hand carved surfboard was purchased with the intention of hanging above the crib. It is carved with Whipple Ohana which means Family. The ornament was bought as another possible way to announce to our families.
We got home from Hawaii and instantly wanted to meet with the doctor. Unfortunately, upon our return I found out that I was being screwed over by my place of employment and they had canceled our medical insurance without any notice. This has been a completely stressful and emotional event and having to face the financial difficulties which were caused by my work have only made it worse. My job satisfaction went from an 8 to maybe a 2...on a good day. We are still fighting the battle with gaining new insurance.
Finally we could not wait anymore and we met with the doctor. We were so excited yet nervous and scared. The nurses were so hopeful that things were going to go well this time. Randy, our OB, did a vaginal ultrasound and things didn't look right. I was 8 weeks along yet the baby appeared to be 5 weeks. Randy was concerned that it could be a blighted ovum, since our calculations and last menstrual period and all that were very strictly documented. As anyone on fertility meds can tell you, I could recite all that info better than my address. A week later we did another ultrasound and the baby had progressed but still was not progressing fast enough or be where it should have been at 9 weeks. We did some blood work and unfortunately being Thanksgiving weekend we had to wait until Monday for more blood work.
We told our family and very few friends on the 23rd of November. We didn't want to see everyone on Thanksgiving and have them all wonder why we weren't 100% yet it was incredibly hard to see everyone. They all meant well it was just hard to try and be happy and not ruin the holiday especially while everyone was giving me hugs and words of wisdom. That Sunday Spencer and Raymond gave me a blessing. Once again we felt that everything would be okay but we knew now that everything would eventually be okay but that this baby was not ours to keep.
November 28, the Monday after Thanksgiving I returned to the doctors office for some more blood work. Randy had wanted to see me for another ultrasound that week but I wasn't sure which day so I headed over to talk to his nurse after getting blood drawn and I ran into Randy. This is why I LOVE my doctor. I asked him when I should schedule an ultrasound and he said why don't we do it now. I told him I didn't have an appointment and pointed out he had patients scheduled and he said well "I'm curious, are you? I think they can wait and we will take a quick look." We did another ultrasound and things had progressed but once again not enough. At this rate it would not progress into a successful pregnancy and a miscarriage was inevitable. We discussed our options and decided we would do a D&C.
Randy went out to call Mindful Medical while I got dressed to see when we could schedule surgery. I told him I definitely wanted to do it this week and just be done with it. I went out to talk to him and he asked if I could do Wednesday, I said sure and reminded him I did not want an anesthesiologist. I preferred a nurse to provide conscious sedation which would be lighter sedation and cheaper (since we still do not have insurance). He said okay well that opens the week up, a minute later he said well can you do it later today. I said I would call Raymond and ask if he could get off work early. We both had assumed that I was just getting blood drawn so he went to work and I was ready to go to work after I left the office. Randy then asked if I could do it right away, I said sure. I called Raymond as Randy walked me down to the surgical suite and asked if he had time he could come drive me home. He was just as surprised as me but we knew it was coming and we were ready.
I had entered the office to get my blood drawn at 9:10 am and at 9:30 am I took the medication Cytotec to prep me for surgery. Everything happened incredibly fast. The women at Mindful Medical were very kind and accommodating. They brought me the prep medication while I was still registering and they were all very sad and concerned for us. Many of them had helped us in April when we were there for the same thing. Things happened differently this time. I was given the medication orally and was able to relax fully clothed in a recliner until it was time. The medication needed 1 hr to work so it gave Raymond time to get there. He got there at 10:15 am and I went to change into a gown and headed back to the OR at 10:30.
The surgery went well other than it was incredibly more painful this time. They had to give me a bit more medication due to pain so I was very sleepy during it instead of being wide awake but I still do remember the majority of it. When they took me to recovery Raymond said I was still writhing in pain and I was pretty sleepy. As soon as I saw Ray I perked up and was able to talk to him. We thought it was ironic that had our first pregnancy been successful I would have been having a baby any day (I was due December 2) but here I sat having another D&C. I stayed in recovery for about 20 minutes and then we headed home. I was 9 weeks 4 days due on June 28, 2012. I was very excited to be having a baby right before or possibly on my 26th birthday.
I was hoping to get a good nap in but it just didn't happen so we cuddled together and watched some movies and had some lunch. I was in quite a bit of pain for a couple days following, lots of cramping which caused back spasms which just made everything worse. It is very abnormal to hurt several days after which frustrated me because I am generally very pain tolerant. We had lots of family and friends bring dinner, care packages and flowers. Two days after surgery I went into work but because of back spasms and cramping I only lasted about 6 hours and decided to take the rest of the week off.
This recovery has been so much harder for me, both physically and emotionally. I feel so empty inside. I hurt from depths I have only now discovered. My head and my heart constantly ache. I see babies and pregnant women everywhere. I am not angry at them, I am actually very happy for them...it just reminds me of the ache which never leaves. I cry a lot. I have trouble sleeping yet I am always tired. I have a hard time focusing on anything.
But I have made a choice. The sad difficult times of our life will NOT define who I am. I will not succumb to the desolation of our trials and tribulations. We will not stop having hope and we will not stop trying for a child. We will be grateful for everything that we have been given and for our wonderful life that we have created together. We will be grateful for the opportunity to be pregnant and for the chance we had to love this baby, even if only for a short time. Our hearts are broken but we will be strong. We will prevail. Our faith will be stronger than ever. I have to believe that God has a plan for me.

Family Dinner
Since the whole family is all over the place for Thanksgiving we try to get together the weekend after and have another family "Thanksgiving". Jess & Kip did an amazing job with the turkey and we had a whole lot of delicious sides. The girls had a blast playing as usual and the boys enjoyed the football game. I sure do love this crew. Oh and we are trying to get the last of our Christmas decorations up and Lexi did a great job helping! One tree to go and we are done!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We saw so much family, ate plenty of food, and ended up snuggled in bed exhausted. We started our day in Brigham City with the Whipple's. We helped Camille get dinner all ready and had delicious home made cheeseballs (by Sheralee), that were so good that we were sadly stuffed before dinner even started! It was a small crew this year but still great company and fun was had. We even sang the traditional 12 days of Christmas, we had enough glasses that everyone got a day! We all groan that we had to sing it but secretly we all love it!
After hanging out with Whipple's we headed to Salt Lake and joined the Stapel family for dinner. Unfortunately we were still stuffed so we just picked at a couple things but really had no desire to eat ever again. This family is always fun and interesting, it was nice to hang out with my madre for a bit as well.
I didn't get any pictures at the Winn gathering but we did end the night visiting my uncle Matt & aunt Katie and my dad. The Winn's also had a small group but it was still fun to see them. Once again we were still so stuffed that we just enjoyed the company not the food. People think we are crazy for driving all over but I love that we still have the ability to visit all of our family for the holidays. We don't get to see them all nearly enough so I don't mind sacrificing one day a year.
This year (and everyday) I am grateful for my husband. He is amazing, he is the rock that keeps me strong, he is my best friend, my confident, my everything. I am grateful for so many things, including my family, but Raymond is truly everything plus more than I could ask for.

Pie Day 2011
Annual Pie Day was a success!! This year was relatively chill, we only made 15. We had pumpkin, pecan, reeses, cherry and apple! We had a blast, the girls were amazing helpers, even Briele! I gave Briele a big chunk of pie crust and she got so excited and started waving it around...that means she is gonna love keeping the tradition going.
These girlies kept the party going the WHOLE night. They could not stop moving! The were dancing, singing, wrestling, roaring, and even growing tails. Yup, aren't they cute! They tried switching tails but then decided they didn't want to share their bum germs! And yes I did clean the toys after they were done!!

Temple Day
We had the opportunity to have a temple day with one of Raymond's old companions and his wife, Jacob & Michelle Peery. We did a session at the Salt Lake Temple which was great and then we had a DELICIOUS lunch at the Garden Restaurant on the top floor of the Joseph Smith Building. The last time we had seen them was their wedding day almost 4 years ago so it was really fun to spend some time with them. We are also very proud because our temple attendance is PATHETIC but this is the second month in a row we have gone! That is amazing for us!! We are even excited to go in December so hopefully we keep it up! I am grateful for the temple and the comfort it brings, even when the answers you get aren't the ones you had hoped for.

Bowling Night
Me and the family went out for a night of Chinese food and bowling. It was kinda fun because it was also the first big snow storm of the year so as we were leaving our house the power went out and we were able to drive around in the snow! Yay!! We had ABC Chinese for dinner and then went over to Sparetime Bowling alley. We hadn't been there before but it was more fun that Fat Cats because it wasn't nearly as crowded! The cute little girls LOVE bowling, especially Lexi, but I think we all had a great time! Also, note that my bowling average has improved by like 20 points since high school...don't get to excited though because that average is still only about 80!! Yay!

11/11/11 @ 11:11
Well Raymond's baby sister is officially married. It was a very short engagement but she chose a pretty good guy so who can argue with that (yes, even shorter than me & Ray). They wanted to get married on 11/11/11 at 11:11 am and they did, kinda cheesy, but it works! Congrats you two!
I made her cake, I think it turned out pretty good. I know everyone said it tasted good and when it comes to cake I guess that is all that matters!

Our Toilet POOPED
No I am not going to show you a picture of a disgusting dirty toilet covered in germs and body fluids but I will show you a picture of my husband fixing the toilet. Our toilet has been on the serious fritz for awhile now, it is constantly running water which makes me and the man crazy but we were just too busy lazy to fix it. Well it decided since we weren't going to fix it (we were just going to replace the toilet when we remodeled the bathroom it has just taken way more time to get to the bathroom than we planned on) it would die. Like in the early morning hours on Sunday morning as I got up to use it. It sounded like it didn't flush but I was half asleep so I didn't really care but the next morning Raymond realized it had completely stopped running water and would just drain whatever was in it. It was really fun having to fill the toilet up with a pitcher if you needed to use it. Thankfully Raymond was really nice and fixed it. Hurray for home ownership!!

Hansen Apartment
Raymond's little sister is getting married and her and the new husband are moving to the neighborhood. That is right, there will now be 4 Whipple families in the neighborhood. We have been invaded, haha, just kidding we kinda like the ones that are here...as for the rest...just kidding again...we love all our family! Jeff & Brenda have a basement that resembles an apartment with a separate entrance and everything unfortunately it is was not finished. Thanks to the help of many and the willingness of Jeff & Brenda, the Hansen's now have a place to live. I haven't been feeling the best so I was very little help other than making muffins and telling others what needs to be done but Raymond was quite helpful...
Or was he?? He is a pretty good planker. Yeah we are down like that, actually the only reason we know what planking (and parcour) are is because Raymond is in the young men's and apparently 12 year olds are very hip these days.
As you can see, it took a lot of people (or a few very thirsty people) awhile to get it all done. But it looks great and I don't think Jeff & Brenda could be any happier about being done!! Yay!! And I am pretty sure the Hansen's are pretty happy they will have somewhere to live! Makes me really wish my basement was finished, oh well, someday!!

Happy Halloween!!
We had a pretty chill Halloween, we passed out candy, ate some dinner, and watched some old school Halloween movies with friends. We didn't even dress up but I figure our Pirate Costumes were so amazing from September that their awesomeness continued into Halloween! These cute girls had a blast for Halloween. As you can tell they kinda like Rapunzel, hence why there is three. And then the cutest Pebbles ever! Happy Halloween!!
P.S.- I LOVE Lexi's frying pan!! Clever girl!!

Hawaii!!
First off, Hawaii was incredible. It truly is beautiful. Everywhere you look you are amazed by the gorgeous sites whether it be the mountains, the ocean, the trees, the fields, or the flowers. It was AMAZING. This post has been a long time coming because the mass amount of pictures is quite intimidating but as I looked through all the pictures I couldn't help but smile because I remembered the fun we had. I think it is such a rare treat that my ENTIRE Winn family was able to go together. Mom, Dad, Jess, Kip, Briele, Steve, Jodi, Madi, Halli, Cody, Lexi, Raymond and Nicole. Incredible, right. This was a once in a lifetime trip for us. Not in the way that we will never go back (trust me, I have already looked at flights) but in the way that I have no idea when my ENTIRE family will be able to go on a trip of this magnitude again! Be warned, there are so many pictures but its my blog, so ha!
Raymond and I had the opportunity to fly into Honolulu the day before the entire family. That meant we flew solo for the day and were able to stumble upon some pretty cool things. First, we hit up Aloha Towers and got some lunch. It was delicious and incredible laid back. They only took cash, which we didn't know, so they told us to go to the ATM and come back. We could have had a free dinner but when people are that trusting how in the world can you take advantage of them! We strolled over to Waikiki where Raymond fell in love with the hog with big green wheels. We took it for a spin, which was exhausting. Oh yeah, we were the only ones near the water fully clothed and wearing a sweater. Ya, we are cool. We were able to see a turtle cruising around while we were out there and I got incredibly sea sick and spent the next hour trying not to share my lunch with the turtles.
As we were driving around we went through several tunnels and every time we did there was another amazing view on the other side. We had several rainy and dreary days but they were still gorgeous and the rain never lasted for very long. I swear we have now lived through a monsoon. It would be bright gorgeous blue skies then it would downpour for 10 minutes so hard that the streets were flooded and there were hundreds of waterfalls coming down the mountains. There were rainbows everywhere which was also quite cool.
There were so many pretty trees, they were all so different but yet so AMAZING! I wish they would grow in Utah! As you drove along the roads there was green everywhere, sometimes you would think your lost in the jungle!
This was our first meal, as well as a shot of the beautiful lie's that my grandma sent home with us for everyone.
Our first night in Hawaii we stayed at my grandparents house. It was so fun to be able to see them, they have been serving a mission in Laie for nearly a year. They took us to breakfast at the Hukilau Cafe which was so good we ate there several times during our stay. They also took us to their favorite stretch of beach and we got to enjoy the breeze, a quick rain storm, and some wind surfers.
After we picked up the rest of our crew from the airport we got some delicious lunch at a shack on the side of the road. Sounds sanitary, I know, but ALL the shacks on the side of the road were incredible! Oh and this is our beautiful rental car which makes us miss our jeep more than we already do!
The house we stayed at was perfect, the views were amazing, there were flowers all over the property with trees and grass. I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
The little girls loved being able to play at the house and just let loose. We also ate lunch at Surfin Tacos which we visited several times while there. The funny looking fruit was picked off our trees in the backyard and although it didn't taste that great it was nice having fresh limes to put in our drinks and guacamole.
We headed down to the beach just across from our house to watch the sunrise. It was breathtaking. It was pretty fun watching my dad and Raymond chase the crabs all over. While down at the beach there was a totally random rain storm in which it down-poured and soaked us all! We took refuge under a tree which helped a little but it was really so fun! Lexi had a blast playing on the beach and in the water which was so WARM, not like bath tub warm but definitely better than California Ocean temperatures!
We ate at some pretty questionable restaurants/buses but I think this one was hilarious. It seriously was a little scary building that you couldn't see out of the windows and it was so gross and dirty but the food was actually really good and CHEAP. I got steak and shrimp for like $8!! The mountains everywhere were incredible and the top left is our backyard at the house. Amazing, right!
We went on an outing to see a blow hole thing that didn't blow but the waves crashing against the rocks and the gorgeous bright blue water at a lookout near the blow hole was beautiful. The little girls loved that they could wear their swim suits pretty much everywhere we went!
We went to Turtle Bay and saw the giant turtles. It was funny we didn't notice the turtles until someone pointed them out, we just thought they were rocks. While we were at Turtle Bay Steve went swimming around getting close to one of the turtles in the water. I was standing with my ankles in the water and Raymond was going to take a picture of me with the ocean behind me. Bad idea, I have learned not to turn your back on the ocean!! I was standing there as he got the camera out and a wave that Jodi claims was up to my shoulders came crashing in, soaking me from head to toe, throwing me into a rock as I laughed hysterically, the tourists snapped pictures, the wave went clear up to the rocks where we had all stuck our shoes so the little girls started crying hysterically because they thought their shoes were going to get taken away, my mom was screaming because she thought I was going to drowned, and well we were quite the spectacle. People were just watching like WOW they are SPECIAL! I got a bruised and cut up knee, a good laugh and a 10 year old local boy that walked over and said "DUDE, YOU GOT WORKED!" It was hilarious! And yes, I did get worked!
We went up to North Shore and got some delicious shaved ice, Matzumoto was way to busy for our liking so we went next door to Aoki's and it was equally delicious and a fraction of the wait! I got beans in my shaved ice because apparently that is really good but no it's not. It's a little weird. But the vanilla ice cream in a shaved ice was delightful.
We had the chance to spend a day at the PCC. It was a pretty fun place with lots going on. Lots of Asian people taking pictures of Briele, which was hilarious. Every where we went she would be flocked by Asians.
By the end of the day we were EXHAUSTED! It was such a long day of walking and watching and learning and it was probably the most humid and hot day we had the whole week.
The little girls LOVED all the dancing and enjoyed adding their sweet moves to the show!
We all got some tattoos, Raymond looks pretty hot with his and his bulging muscles. Steve realized after the fact that he didn't really want a tattoo down his face and the little girls picked out my tattoo which ended up representing a queen...very fitting, I know.
We made it a little late to the Hula lessons but the guy was willing to give the girls a private lesson with a live ukulele player even. They did wonderfully, we have some very fun little dancers with some sweet moves in the family.
We had a blast at the luau. We got gorgeous fresh flowered laies. The pineapple smoothies were DELICIOUS, see Raymond couldn't even put his down for a picture! The final show was pretty cool, lots of fire dancing and the story line was pretty fun too. The lighting wasn't conducive to great pictures but trust me it was cool.
We went to the Dole Plantation for the afternoon and got to ride the train, it was a gorgeous plantation in which I learned how several fruit grow. I had no ideas pineapples grew on little plants in the ground, I don't really know where I thought they came from but it was not like that.
They had some gorgeous trees that have very multi-colored trunks, and the grounds were so pretty.
While we were at the Plantation I got suckered into picking an oyster and hoping to find a pearl inside. Well I am a fabulous oyster picker, you go for the ugliest ones you can find. The first one I cracked open had a perfect black pearl in it, we decided to get it put in a fitting so they let me pick another oyster for free and I got even luckier. I got twin pink pearls!! I know, just lucky! We decided since they were such a nice match we got them fitted in earrings, they are little drop down swivels that represent the ocean waves. And since I was such a good customer the lady gave me 2 more matching black pearls so I could get earrings to match our first fitting, maybe some day but they had suckered me into enough jewelry for one day so I just took those pearls home. I thought I was cool stuff until my dad informed me that they plant the pearl seeds inside the oyster and then let them grow, way to ruin my buzz...oh well, I still think I was pretty cool. We were able to go play in the water at North Shore and watch the sunset. It was such a nice beach.
We went to the Swap Meet in which we were excited for all week! Jess got a coconut drink, which is not good but it looked incredibly fun. We got some cool treasures. I got a nativity in a coconut shell and Raymond got a hand carved surfboard which caused us some grief but it is still a cool decoration. We ordered it Wednesday and they guy was going to start carving it then but we requested a specific color of board and we were leaving soon so he said to stop by Saturday morning and he would have it for us. Well Saturday morning on our way to the airport we stopped by and no surfboard, no carver, and a plane that was leaving in just a couple of hours. We got it arranged that they would mail it to us but with the incredibly laid back Polynesian culture we didn't know if it would ever come. But it did a couple weeks after we got home and its beautiful and they even mailed us a hand carved turtle.
We went to Pearl Harbor which was very worth seeing. We took a boat out to the USS Arizona which is still submerged but a memorial has been erected over it. You could look down and see the ship and its rusting parts under the water. In case you have missed tons of history classes, news, and documentaries the crew was unable to escape and are still buried within the ship. There were very few crewmen that were not killed with the ship but as they have passed away they have been cremated and divers take their remains down to be buried within the ship with their crew mates per their request. Every member of the crew besides 3 that are still living have been returned to the ship and the 3 are requesting to have similar burial treatment so once they pass the entire crew will have been returned to their ship.It was a sobering place and the wall with the names of the crewmen was heartbreaking. We are truly blessed to have so many willing to defend our country.
They didn't give you much time at the memorial but it was still incredible.
The little girls got matching dresses from the swap meet and instantly had to change into them. They looked so cute! We headed to lunch at Bubba Gump's after Pearl Harbor and it was DELICIOUS. I love seafood, Raymond loves it too...as long as it is not a crustacean.
We spent lots of time lounging at the house which was a nice break from all the sight seeing. The girls got hula outfits or "boob necklaces" and "grass dresses" as the girls call them. They were hilarious dancing around with them on.
We ate at the Famous Giovanni's shrimp bus. Raymond doesn't eat crustaceans so he had a delicious garlic hot dog. The grilled corn was AMAZING. The boys dared Raymond to drink this firey hot sauce for I think $20 and he did. We are bad people to dare because we will do it. At first he didn't think it was bad but then things got worse. His sinuses were cleared, he was gagging, dry heaving and nearly crying. It was hilarious to watch.
We played at Waimea Bay in the ocean. Raymond, Kip and I were terrible boogey boarders but we still had a blast. Briele LOVED the ocean! She did not want to leave the water and loved the waves crashing against them. Lexi got incredibly brave and would lay on the boogey board on her belly and would ride the waves into the beach. Since she is just a little squirt the waves would push her up onto the sand and then pull her right back out to me which was maybe 5 feet and we would wait for the next wave to push her in. It was hilarious because we did it for probably 15 minutes and she would go right up to the beach and right back to where I was sitting in the sand. I wish we would have gotten video of it because she really was so brave and just loved it. We did some snorkeling while we were there and so some pretty cool fish and coral.
Raymond, my dad and grandpa went on a hike up to a waterfall. I am so glad I did not go. They got poured on which made the trail super slick. Then it got dark and the trail wasn't exactly easy so they were lighting it up with their cell phones and praying they made it off the mountain! They did get to the waterfall and Raymond was able to go for a dip...before it rained.
While we were playing at the beach earlier Jodi started videoing Raymond because she thought he was being weird. One of her favorite you tube videos is "Party in the USA", the one done by the gay men. So her and Steve edited their videos of Raymond and put them to Party in the USA. We couldn't stop laughing, if I had a copy and Raymond wouldn't kill me, I would post it.
We spent many mornings going to the beach to watch the sunrise and everyday it was so different yet still breathtaking.
Our house was on Hula Hula Place in Haula, which is about 10 minutes from the temple and if you still don't believe me it was the most incredible place to stay. The only shower for the main house was outside! We loved it! The bottom left corner is the shower room, yes it has a door, and even when it was raining it was the best place to take a shower. We had the living quarters above the garage as well and the bathroom up their was equally amazing. It was a giant shower in the middle of the room with a foot tall rim around it. There was no shower curtain just very open and nice. It was heaven.
Raymond stayed an extra day after everyone left. We went to Hard Rock in Honolulu and got a hurricane glass to match all our others. We went to the Pali lookout which was beautiful and covered in bees. It is so windy the bees don't really fly they just get blown around.
We drove around the Tantalus loop which was gorgeous. It is a tiny windy road which at the very top we were on a one car bridge that looked down on either sides of the island. We were even able to look DOWN onto a rainbow, it was incredible. If you look at the picture in the top left corner, bottom half of the picture, you can see a very faint rainbow. It was awesome!
More trees, swings and sights that I just love. This middle tree is my FAVORITE. It think I am going to print it onto a canvas for our downstairs bathroom. It is decorated with all sorts of buoys.
We went to the Wamiea bay botanical garden where there are gorgeous flowers, trees and birds everywhere and at the top of their hike is a waterfall. We didn't wear our suits so we didn't go swimming but it was still nice.
We hung out at Pipeline for awhile and watched the surfers, they have seriously skill! The waves were huge and I would have died just trying to swim!
These pictures are a bit out of order but I took the little girls to the beach for one last play in the sand. They LOVED it and couldn't stop moving the whole time we were there. More pretty views of the island. Bottom left is our flight there and then of course our luggage. Our last dinner in Oahu was at the Kahuku Grill with my grandparents. It was delicious and kinda funny because there were lizards all over! We LOVE our luggage and it was our first time being able to use it! I also loved that it was so easy to pick out which bags were ours. We overheard a guy telling his wife at the baggage claim, "Why don't we get bags like that! It would be so easy to find!" I agree sir, I agree.
Our last day there we stopped by the local Costco. Yes we love this store, I was able to find out that a seasoning my mom had hoped to buy could be found there so we went and got us each a grande size bottle. Unfortunately, the seasoning caused us some grief but it was still funny. Our flight plans had us flying from Honolulu to the Hilo Airport on the big island. We had a 4 hour layover at Hilo so we figured our bags would be checked and we would catch a cab with our carry-on bags to go get some dinner. We landed and it is the littlest airport with nothing visible around it. We seriously landed and drove right up to the gate and didn't have to wait, didn't see any other planes, and there was seriously 4 gates and 1 runway! We got off the plane and the only direction we could go took us out of security and right by the baggage claim which we thought was odd. What was even more odd, was our bags wouldn't automatically get placed on our connecting flight so luckily we went by them otherwise we would have been in trouble. The entire airport spanned maybe a block so we walked over to check our bags in but first had to put them through the agricultural checkpoint. My purse had suspicious contents in it so it got searched. Turned out it was oreos. Then we went and checked our bags in. We asked a lady if there was any restaurants nearby we could go eat at and no taxis. The nearest one was nearly 2 hours away and was already closed, after all it was nearly 7 pm. There was a tiny airport bar that we were able to get some gross nachos and a drink at for $13. They were probably the same size at gas station nachos but not very tasty. The whole airport is kind of like a carport. The baggage check and ticket areas are all open to the outside. While we were getting checked in a monsoon type rain came and it was crazy how much water came down. Then after it stopped raining you could hear tons of frogs croaking all over. We decided since there was nowhere to go we would go through security and pop a squat in the terminal. On our way to Hawaii I had to go through the x-ray machine and be frisked because although I was wearing shorts and they could see my right knee, it was suspicious. Now on our way home my purse had been searched and then going through security my carry-on had to be searched. Apparently the seasoning we bought had sea salt which resemble craosite(?) which is used to make explosives. So he had to remove the seasonings, test the seals, test the outside of the bottles with a chemical to verify I was not trying to transport explosive material. I am apparently very suspicious.
The airport was tiny, the top right picture represents the entire thing. We were able to claim a couch and watch a movie on our tablet. They did however have massage chairs so we enjoyed a 15 minute sit in them. It was hilarious how little it was, when we boarded the plane, it simply turned around and went right down the runway. No taxiing or wait. Our last morning in Hawaii we went and did a session at the Laie Temple. It was wonderful to be able to go there, the temple grounds are beautiful. My grandparents are on a temple mission so we were able to say goodbye to them in the Celestial room. It was a really cool experience.
Overall, Hawaii was incredible. We were definitely not disappointed, and truthfully 9 days was not even enough time to see all that we had wanted, we could have stayed so much longer! It was beautiful no matter where we went. The weather was incredible. (Raymond has tonsil problems but the whole time we were there they were great). It was such an amazing opportunity to be able to share that with my family. We were so blessed and thankful to be able to take this trip. I honestly could not stop smiling as I went through these pictures (and the other 1000 I didn't post) because it just reminded me of how much fun we had! We will definitely head back to Hawaii some day!!
