Dastrup Family Reunion

This last weekend was the Dastrup family reunion, Momma Whipple's family gathering. The Dastrup's are very organized and fabulous but they are still very much hilarious! The reunion consisted of a full agenda with specified activities & times!


Friday we set up camp in the city park, when you hear city park you think middle of busy town but this was the gorgeous scene across from us!! Good 'ol Sigurd is tiny and fabulous! After setting up camp we visited with family, had dinner, and then ended the night with guitars, singing and treats around the fire!


Saturday we got up bright & early for breakfast. Then we had flag ceremony and morning devotional (I know, great huh!). Then we had activities time which included making visors, face painting, writing a letter to the Dastrup missionaries, making temple picture frames, water games, and kickball! I told you, very organized! Then we had a geneology cemetary scavenger hunt. After that we went to the church and had "special time with grandma" where we listened to Grandma reminisce about Grandpa and the early days of their courtship. All through the war grandma & grandpa wrote each other love letters. They kept them for all these years and have now compiled them into 4 books so that each child can have a set. That went a little long so we cancelled the variety show and went straight back to the park for dinner then we went to the Richfield Community Pool and finished the night off swimming!!


This is a giant family!! 15 kids in all, Raymond sits at #42 of 84 on the grandchild list (there are 6 pregnant!)! And there are 84 great-grand-children!! It was a blast meeting everyone and being able to spend time together! This is a fabulous family and I am so happy to be a part of it!!
